Hammersmith, forming part of the Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in west London, is an established and highly sought after area in which to live, and is a mere five miles from the centre of the capital and its myriad of attractions. It is also a major centre of employment with many international companies siting their UK headquarters in the area.
There is an extensive choice of good pubs and restaurants, it is home to the famous Hammersmith Apollo and Lyric Theatre, and is close to the River Thames with its wonderful tow path walks and to Olympia. There are also excellent local shopping choices as well as eateries that include the impressive Broadway complex and at Kings Mall in nearby King’s Street.
Hammersmith benefits from numerous parks, open spaces, and play and sports areas that include Ravenscourt Park – the borough's flagship park. This is a large open space, combining attractive landscaping and an excellent array of leisure facilities; which embraces play equipment, tennis and basketball courts, an all-weather pitch, a popular tea-house and garden centre.
The area's prime location means that it benefits from short distances to key transport connections; including a large bus terminus at Hammersmith Underground station and main road routes, via the A4 and A40, to and from the capital. It has its own tube station, Hammersmith, and further stations at Barons Court, Ravenscourt Park and at Stamford Brook.
Additionally, there are numerous first-class state and private schools in the area that cater for all abilities and – as is necessary – there is strong competition for places at the best establishments.
