The Black Farmer - New Farm Shop in Television Centre White City - A Personal Homecoming for the Owner
Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, also known as The Black Farmer, has launched his second farm shop in London at the iconic Television Centre in White City
Speaking to Farmers Weekly, Wilfred was obviously happy to be back where his career started having worked as a producer and director for the BBC at Television Centre. Mr Emmanuel-Jones said the launch of the new shop at the Television Centre was a 'homecoming for me personally'. His passion for farming, food and the farming industries to make them more diverse and inclusive earned him a MBE in 2020 for services to British Farming .
After leaving his TV career behind, he went on to buy his own farm, Higher West Kitcham Farm, on the border of Devon and Cornwall, which today he continues to farm. He became known as the The Black Farmer by the locals who helped him initially on his farm, this then inspired him to set up the brand of the same name which include awarding-winning sausages, chicken, ham and sauces under the same brand name.
He opened his first farm shop in Brixton in December 2023 an innovative farm shop bringing the essence of rural quality to the heart of the city. The store is a celebrates diversity, offering choice of premium foods from The Black Farmer range and other artisanal brands. The brand specializes in high-quality meats, fresh produce, and unique gourmet items, all sourced with a commitment to supporting local and emerging businesses.
Its well documented that Wilfred' s story started at the young at the age of 11. " As a dyslexic child brought up in inner-city poverty after arriving from Jamaica, I made it my life’s dream to own an English farm.” who was awarded an MBE in 2020 for services to British farming, said his new shop would 'bring a piece of the countryside to the city''.
On opening up his second flag ship store he said: “Having worked as a producer and director for the BBC at Television Centre myself, opening The Black Farmer Farmship in London at this iconic location is an incredible landmark for our team.
Come and experiance it for yourself and visit the new store in the Heart of White City - it is more than just a shop; it's a community hub for food lovers who appreciate the finest ingredients from both rural and urban origins.
