The GEMINI 2023 Boat Race 26th March 2023 -Timings, Fan Zones, Entertainment and What you need to know..

Its that time of year again when over 300,000 spectators are expected to cram on to the banks of the Thames in west London this Sunday 26th March as Oxford and Cambridge battle it out on the banks of the Thames.  Although the races might not begin until 4pm, the riverside will have entertainment from 12pm with fan zones and pubs along the course have enought food, drink and entertainment in to last the whole day and into the afternoon to the build up for the main event.

The best views head for Putney Bridge to see the beginning of the race and Chiswick Bridge, at the very end of the race, however its without saying if you want a front row vantage point its best to arrive early, bring a brolly and your thermals as the weather can change very quickly . 

KEY INFORMATION 

Also, unlike in previous years, Hammersmith Bridge and Barnes Bridge will close for the race. Hammersith will close at 11am and reopen at 6pm. Barnes will close at 2.30pm and reopen at 6pm. 

There is a number of pubs along the Boat Race Route as well as the Hammersmith and Fulham Fan Zone where you can relax and watch from the big screen.  The pubs along the river will be busy and its advisable to book before hand to ensure a seat.  For more information see below.


TIMINGS OF BOAT RACE 

Between 1.55pm and 2.40pm.  As traditon goes the teams will toss a 1829 gold sovereign to choose which side of the river they will row on.


16:00 - Women’s race

16:15 - Women’s Reserve Race – Osiris v Blondie

16:30 - Men’s Reserve Race – Isis v Goldie

17:00 - Men’s race

 

Hammersmith and Fulham Fan Zones 

Get yourself to the Fan zones at Bishops Park Fulham, or Furnivall Gardens Hammersmith the fun starts early in anticipation of the Race.
These Fan Zones open with bars, street-food stands and a big screen to watch the BBC live coverage of the race.
