Hammersmith BID Square Summer Festival

Hammersmith BID  in connection with  Hammesmith Council to bring you our 17th Summer Festival. This year, alongside live Wimbledon, free film nights, wellbeing and climate action activities, we’re celebrating a summer of sports with special events and live action from the Paris Olympic Games on our Big Screen in Lyric Square!

Hammersmith BID is an independent, not-for-profit, business led-company set up with the aim of improving Hammersmith town centre as a place to work, live and visit.

RIVERSIDE STUDIOS

The King of Denmark is dead and Prince Hamlet must take revenge, initiating a cascade of events that will destroy both family and state. Eddie will be portraying men, women, ghosts, scholars, tyrants, courtiers, lovers, fools and poets. She says: 

‘HAMLET’ marks Eddie’s second solo show following last year’s sold-out run of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, which played to rave reviews in New York and at The Garrick Theatre in London’s West End. This production of Shakespeare’s ‘HAMLET’ will see her take on 23 characters in a very unique performance of the iconic play.

MOFFIE 

MOFFIE is an exploration of toxic masculinity and trauma, highlighting how, 30 years into South Africa's democracy, the emotional wounds inflicted during those turbulent times persist, offering a reflection on the lingering scars of the past and their influence on the present and future.

Adapted for the stage from the novel by André Carl van der Merwe, Kai Luke Brümmer returns to the role of Nicholas, a part he played in the critically acclaimed 2019 feature film adaptation of the same book.

RIVERSIDE ROOM 

A Scratch Cabaret is part of the Embers Festival, a series of creative development and performance opportunities.

The fast growing new writing and live events theatre company, Stoke The Embers, is bringing their eclectic scratch event to the River Room! 

Join us for an evening of short scenes, singing, and musical composition from London's brightest emerging and established talents. This event is also a space for creatives to meet their future collaborators. Whether you're new to the industry or looking for inspiration, Taking Centre Stage: A Scratch Cabaret is the space for you!

The event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., including one 15-minute interval. Taking Centre Stage: A Scratch Cabaret is part of the Embers Festival, a series of creative development and performance opportunities.

Though no longer with us, the spirit of Amy Winehouse lives on through her music which has touched millions worldwide.

AN EVENING OF BRIT POP 

A host of 90’s luminaries from the defining music of the decade – Britpop – will join forces for a unique show at Eventim Apollo in June 2024, which will see them performing their hits and more iconic songs from the era with a full live orchestra.    Featuring Simon Fowler (Ocean Colour Scene), John Power (Cast / The La’s), Mark Chadwick (Levellers), Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), and Saffron (Republica).

DISNEY IN CONCERT 

Following on from its debut in the UK at the London Coliseum last year, Disney In Concert: The Sound of Magic, a celebration of over 100 years of Disney experience through its music, will tour the UK for the first time in 2024, stopping at Eventim Apollo on 13th June.

The symphonic celebration will see renowned Novello Orchestra bring to life the soundtracks and characters from the Walt Disney Animation Studios and more to life, on the concert hall and big screen in a live-to-film concert like never before.

BLACK CULTURE MARKET AT WESTFIELD

Black Culture Market are hosting a pop-up kiosk in June 2024. Black Culture Market was established to celebrate black culture and commerce in the community. The Brixton-based initiative gives entrepreneurs of African and Caribbean descent visibility for them to flourish and make cultural products more accessible. With just 0.24% of capital in the UK going to black entrepreneurs access to early-stage capital is limited. Black Culture Market aims to change this by encouraging communities to shop small with black-owned businesses.

Hedkandi Present 25 The Launch
It began in 1999 at Jazzfm with the continuation of the Nu Cool series and the creation of a chill-out compilation called Serve Chilled. Both titles released on a brand new label called Hedkandi. It was swiftly followed by a radio show, and then a club event that travelled around the world.

Ladaniva is a multicultural band creating world music with a fresh touch of Armenian folk and other traditional forms, such as maloya, Balkan, reggae, Arabic, African. The group was founded in October 2019 by Armenian singer Jacklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas.
